300 Days of Beer – Day 296

Day 296 – 9th June 2017

300beersI was going to drink this beer yesterday evening while watching the Election results come in, but I thought better of it – I figured I was going to be depressed when I woke up this morning, there was no need to add alcohol and tiredness into the mix! As it happens, I woke up fairly happy with the result, seeing as it was a slap in the face for Theresa May and her ‘strong and stable’ nonsense. Instead, it’s Friday night, and I can enjoy it properly! The beer in question is another from the Black Sheep Brewery, this particular one is called ‘Velo’, in honour of the brewery’s Yorkshire roots, the humble bicycle and the Grand Depart of the Tour De France which set off from Yorkshire back in 2014. I have to say, this is a beautiful pale ale worth getting your hands on. To see more, why not see their website https://www.blacksheepbrewery.com

300 Days of Beer – Day 235

Day 235 – 18th August 2016

300BeersThe week is almost over, it’s Thursday – which means just Friday to get through, and then it’s the weekend! Today was another good day for Team GB at the Olympics – Gold medals in sailing and a one-two combination for the all-conquering Brownlee brothers in the Triathlon. And as they hail from Yorkshire, what better way to toast their success than to sample a beer from the North Brewing Co based in Leeds. ‘Transmission’ is a fairly strong West Coast IPA with a strong aftertaste. Strong, like a proper Yorkshireman. Allegedly. Head over to their website http://www.northbrewing.com

300 Days of Beer – Day 17

Day 17 – 22nd January 2015

300BeersAnother day, and I’m still fully committed to this alcoholic adventure! I’d like to say to all those impressionable people out there that drinking is bad and you shouldn’t do it… but I’m a realist, so as far as I’m concerned it’s great. In moderation. Right, that’s the social responsibility bollocks out of the way – now to the matter in hand. Tonight’s choice comes all the way from Yorkshire (the brewery – I bought it from the Co-op in Wem), and it’s ‘Black Sheep Ale’ from the brewery of the same name. As no Yorkshireman probably ever said, “By ‘eck, it’s grand!” Anyway, here’s the link… http://www.blacksheepbrewery.com

300 Days of Beer – Day 7

Day 7 – 9th January 2015

300BeersAfter another day off – well I did have two bottles of Stella, but hell that doesn’t count – I’m back on it today with another proper beer. Today I went for a neat brew from Yorkshire. from the Timothy Taylor brewery, I have been supping on ‘Boltmaker’, a bitter brewed originally to satisfy the thirst of Yorkshire’s miners, steelworkers and engineers. According to the bottle, it’s best enjoyed with standard Yorkshire fare, but I went for a packet of honey roasted peanuts instead. Here comes the usual website link… http://timothytaylor.co.uk
