Monday Mix-tape – 23.07.2012

Like the inevitable way night follows day, today is Sunday, tomorrow is Monday, which can only mean it’s Monday Mix-tape time!

This weeks offering centres on tracks used as television themes, so get your youtube, or itunes at the ready, and off we go:

1) With A Little Help From My Friends – Joe Cocker
The theme to The Wonder Years… happy childhood memories!

2) I’ll Be There For You – The Rembrandts
Cheesy, American theme to one of the best sitcoms of the past twenty years!

3) Handbags & Gladrags – Rod Stewart
Used in the UK version of The Office in a slightly different guise!

4) Tea For The Tillerman – Cat Stevens
The music over the credits for Ricky Gervais’ Extras!

5) Woke Up This Morning – A3
Theme to mob drama The Sopranos!

6) News Of The World – The Jam
Used for the opening titles of BBC’s Mock The Week!

7) Flagpole Sitta – Harvey Danger
Peep Show theme song from second series onwards!

8) Are You Gonna Be My Girl – Jet
Heavy guitar sound used as theme to the Live At The Apollo series!

9) The Riverboat Song – Ocean Colour Scene
Remember Chris Evans and TFI Friday? Then you’ll remember this!

10) Fast Fuse – Kasabian
One of the more recent usages as the theme to Russell Howard’s Good News!

And there we have it. Enjoy! Or, as Derek Trotter would probably say, ‘Mange Tout!’
